No School:  Prairie Home School will not be in session on Friday, Feb. 18th due to a Staff Professional Development day and Monday, Feb. 21st due to President’s Day.  Classes will resume on Tuesday, Feb. 22nd.

Donuts for Dad:  Our Elementary “Donuts for Dad” is scheduled for Tuesday, March 1st from 7:30 to 8:00 a.m.  Please come and join your students for a little bit of fun.

After School Pick-Up:  In the afternoons when parents are picking up students, we place orange cones to help isolate the traffic flow and prevent multiple lines of cars.  This is for student safety purposes.  When picking up your child (ren), please don’t drive through or move those cones.  Thank you for your help and attention with this.  The safety of our students is very important to us!!

Food Containers for Students:  Another issue that has arrived from the pandemic is a shortage on our “boats” that are used to warm up food that students have brought from home.  We are unable to find any at this time.  If your student is bringing their lunch, please be sure and send paper plates or bowls to warm up their food in.  Thank you for your help.

Food Shortages:  Due to the food shortages and inability to receive some of our orders from our grocery suppliers, starting in Monday, Nov. 1st our alternate choices for lunch will be the same choices according to which day of the week:  Monday – PB&J, Tuesday – Turkey Sandwich, Wednesday – Chef Salad, Thursday – Ham Sandwich, Friday – Grilled Cheese.

Breakfast and Lunch Cost:  The free breakfasts and lunches for all students have been extended throughout the 2021-2022 school year.  If they want to buy “extras”,   those will be charged to the student.  A small extra is .75 and a large extra is $1.00.

Student Pick-Up:  If you need to change your student’s plans for the end of the day (they will be picked up, need to ride a different bus, etc.) please call the school office before 1:00 p.m. to make those changes.

Medication:  All medication, both over-the-counter as well as prescription, must be given to the school nurse.  Serious consequences may result if a student is found with any drugs including over the counter or prescription.  First offense may result in 10 days of O.S.S.  Over-the-counter or prescription drugs may not be kept in purses, pockets, book bags,

lockers or anywhere else on school grounds.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Simmons at 660-841-5296.

Food Service:  Please be sure and keep your student’s Food Service accounts up to date.  Account balance summaries will be sent home every Friday (if your student has a negative balance it will be in parentheses).  If a student’s balance is negative, they will not be allowed “extras”.
