No School: PHS will not be in session on Friday, March 17th and Monday, March 20th due to Spring Break. Classes will resume on Tuesday, March 21st .

Early Dismissal/Parent/Teacher Conferences: We will have an early dismissal on Thursday, March 16th due to our Parent/Teacher Conferences. Conferences will start at 1:00 p.m. through 7:00 p.m. with a dinner break from 5:00 to 5:30 for our teachers.

Congratulations: Congratulations to Ms. Potts, Mrs. Hodges and our PHS Band on their 2 rating at the CCAA Music Contest. Congratulations also to the following students (with their ratings following their names) who performed solos: Grace Hodges – Flute 1+ and Vocal 1, Hailey Milne – Flute 1, Piper Merrill – Vocal 1, Miley Brown – Flute 1, Madilyn Kuester – Vocal 2, and Parker Gerdt – Trombone 2. Great job everyone!!

CCAA Art Contest: The CCAA Art Contest will be set up at Jamestown on Friday, March 3rd . The Show will be open for public viewing from Monday, March 6th to Thursday, March 9th from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. each afternoon.

Donkey Basketball – Booster Club Fundraiser: The Prairie Home Booster Club is bringing you Donkey Basketball on Saturday, March 18th at 7:00 p.m. We will have a food truck here, Big Hungry Concessions Kettle Corn and Lunch Box that will start serving food at 5:30 p.m. We have tickets available for purchase in advance for $7.00 via an order form, we will also have “will call” for advanced tickets to be picked up on the day of the event at 6:00 p.m. (they will not be sent home or available to pick up sooner). Tickets will also be available the day of the event for $10.00. Checks can be made out to the Prairie Home Booster Club.
We are also in search of Jockey’s to play in the Donkey Basketball games. The Jockey position is open to coaches, students and community members. The requirements are that you must be 16 years or older and weigh 225 lbs. or less. If you are interested in purchasing tickets or participating in the Donkey Basketball, please contact any member of our Booster Club.

Donuts & Dudes: Please join us for our “Donuts & Dudes” event for our elementary students. This is scheduled for Thursday, March 9th from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. 

Yearbooks: Your 2022-2023 Yearbook are now $30.00.

PBS Dress Up Days: March PBS Dress-Up Days are as follows. Receive Panther Pride points when you participate.

March 8th $1.00 Hat Day – Pay $1.00 and wear your hat all day.
March 10th Mario and Friends Day
March 16th St. Patrick’s Day Observed – Wear Green
March 21st Red, Black & Gold Day for 1st Softball Game
March 23rd Red & Black Day for 1st Baseball Game
March 30th Take A Walk Day – Secondary during Advisory. Elementary when possible.            March 31st Crayon Day – We will assign colors out per grade.

Blood Drive: There will be a PHS Blood Drive on Tuesday, March 14th in the PHS Library sponsored by the Beta Club. Please make an appointment to come in and give blood.

Dismissal Times: All PHS students will be dismissed daily at 3:15 p.m. If you need to pick up your student(s) earlier than 3:15 p.m., please let the office know at 660-841-5296.  Student Pick-Up: If you need to change your student’s plans for the end of the day (they will be picked up, need to ride a different bus, etc.) please call the school office before 1:00 p.m. to make those changes.

Medication: All medication, both over-the-counter as well as prescription, must be given to the school nurse. Serious consequences may result if a student is found with any drugs including over the counter or prescription. First offense may result in 10 days of O.S.S. Over-the-counter or prescription drugs may not be kept in purses, pockets, book bags, lockers or anywhere else on school grounds. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Simmons at 660-841-5296.

Food Service: Please be sure and keep your student’s Food Service accounts up to date. Account balance summaries will be sent home every Friday (if your student has a negative balance it will be in parentheses). If a student’s balance is negative, they will not be allowed “extras”. If your student’s balance falls negative more than $5.00, they will be eating a cheese sandwich (for which they will not be charged) and milk (for which they will be charged.)
